A suspected burglar had to be rescued from the canal in Brighouse after trying to evade police this morning (Monday).

The 27-year-old Bradford man, who is currently being quizzed by police, was wanted in connection with a burglary in Greetland in the early hours of the morning.

He failed to stop for police just before 4am, which led to a chase involving the police helicopter. The suspect tried to evade capture by going into the Calder and Hebble Navigation, but had to be rescued by police and was subsequently arrested.
